Application of the results in two pilot publishing houses
The results of the qualitative requirements analysis were combined with the procedure for developing specifications for a WFMS, illustrated using the example of two university publishers. First, the specific workflows of the pilot publishers Universitätsverlag Potsdam and Berlin University Publishing (BerlinUP) were described on the basis of the OA workflow model.
Workflow modelling was carried out in the same way using the Toolbox. Process analyses were performed on the basis of the specific workflow models using the procedure description for deriving specifications. These were linked to the results of the interviews and transferred to the specific specifications. The specific requirements specifications were used to select the software systems used in the pilot publishing houses. This made it possible to determine not only which actors (production support, editors, project managers, publishers and authors) are involved in which process stages, but also which tools are used in the current workflows.
